Working

Since childhood Mrs. Mira Aggarwal exhibited great leadership qualities and being part of a family and the social circle where country has been put before self, she started working as an active member of Rashtriya Sewika Samiti.

During her college days she was an active member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and in the year 1983-84 she became the Joint Secretary of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU). During her tenure as a DUSU office bearer she brought many colleges under the DUSU supervision, so that the student’s body can work for the welfare of the students of maximum number of colleges. During the same year she even went to Assam to lead a protest against the illegal migration and infiltration of foreigners in to the country.

She joined the Indian politics by becoming an active member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and became the Vice President of Women’s Wing (Mahila Morcha) of Delhi state BJP Unit. During this tenure she made lot of Delhi women active in social work.

In the year 1997 from Model Town area she became the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) councillor and during the same year she became the Vice President of Standing Committee of MCD and during the year she formulated the hand rikshaw puller policy, keeping in mind benefit of the delhi population and also the welfare of the rikshaw pullers.

In the very next year she became the Deputy Mayor of Delhi and during her tenure she spearheaded the formation and the working of the Women and Children welfare society and the inception of the multi-level underground parking.

In the year 1999 she became the Chairman of the Education Committee of MCD and for the next one year she worked for the betterment of the MCD primary schools and the upliftment of the education standard in MCD schools. During the same year she introduced English language as a subject to be taught to the students of MCD primary schools.

In the year 2007 she was elected as the MCD councillor from Kohat Enclave ward and for the next 3 years she was an active member of the Standing Committee where constantly she kept raising the issues for the welfare of the society and Delhi. Currently she is the Chairman of the Appointment Committee, where she is constantly devising policies to make the working of MCD employees more efficient.
